Job Overview:

  • Assist in assuring the operation of the facilities in accordance with the applicable rules and regulations of the National Electrical Code (NEC), the United States Forest Service, American National Standards Institute (ANSI), the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), TSV Liability Insurance policy and company policies and procedures.
  • Responsible for maintaining facilities and other mountain electrical systems including control and drive systems, distribution centers, transformers, power, lighting, and heating.
  • Executing scheduled annual, monthly, weekly, and daily maintenance on electrical and mechanical equipment, reporting, repairing, or replacing as required.
  • Locate sources of problems by observing electrical devices in operation; listening for problems; and checking for issues.
  • Responding to and determining the cause of electrical problems and implementing solutions by repairing or explaining problems and solutions to the operator.
  • Response and correction of the problem to be completed as quickly and safely as possible with the public’s safety, and your own safety being the highest priority. Implementing and ensuring compliance with all Company, State, and National safety policies and procedures.

  • Remove defective parts, using proper tools; examine and diagnose the cause of failure and correct the condition.
  • Maintain tools, equipment, parts, and supplies inventory and conserve resources by checking stock to determine inventory level; anticipate equipment parts and supplies and use equipment and supplies as needed to accomplish job results.
  • Assist Manager/Supervisor with the parts and supplies ordering needs.
  • Help with the planning and implementation of ongoing training and procedure updates.
  • Have complete working knowledge of the Ski Safety Act and its application to our ski mountain

Essential Job Responsibilities:


  • Previous electrical maintenance experience.
  • Well-organized record-keeping and troubleshooting skills.
  • Possess a State of New Mexico Journeyman Electrician License.
  • Is familiar with the NEC through regular use.
  • Possess the basic abilities to use hand tools including screwdrivers, wrenches, hammers, etc.
  • Possess the basic abilities to use power tools including drills, saws, grinders, etc.
  • Capable of climbing up and down steep ski slopes, and mountain terrain.
  • Ability to assist in digging trenches as required for the task at hand.
  • Possesses two-way radio communication skills.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and be added to the driver list through TSV insurance company.

Qualifications:

  • Must be able to read electrical schematics and understand symbols and many different manufacturer schematic layouts.
  • Must maintain OSHA requirements, as well as the National Electrical Codes.
  • Must be able to use test equipment to troubleshoot all types of electrical systems. Frequent testing on energized 480 VAC, 240VAC, 120VAC, and 24VDC circuits is required.
  • Must have a working knowledge of electrical and electronic control/sensor devices and their functions, testing, and installation.

  • Ability to assess and troubleshoot all routine mechanical issues.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license.
  • Working knowledge of the Skier Safety Act and ANSI Guidelines.
  • Must be able to function effectively at elevations of 10,000 feet or higher.

  • Must be able to function effectively in inclement weather conditions.
  • Must be able to ski / board at an intermediate level.


Knowledge:

  • At least two years of electrical and maintenance experience.
  • Working knowledge of all types of electrical equipment including AC motors and motor control, AC variable speed drives, DC motors, DC variable speed drives, battery powered low voltage 24VDC controls.
  • Must be familiar with analog, digital, and PLC controls interfacing low and high-voltage systems.
  • Troubleshooting skills using electrical testing equipment to diagnose problems. Familiarity with the National Electrical Code and New Mexico Ski Safety statutes.
  • Familiar with AC generators, AC motors, DC motors, 3 phase 480 volt power, installing new 480/240/120 circuits, 24-volt battery systems, and battery maintenance.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills are a must. Some computer skills are required in order to communicate/email and track inventory parts. Also, parts research and online purchases.

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly exposed to outside weather conditions. The employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places; a risk of electrical shock and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.



Work Schedule:

  • 5 Days, 40 hours/week. Earlier start times as needed.
  • Works before 7:00 am and after 5:00 pm when necessary any day without prior notice.
  • Extra days or hours during holidays and busy periods, may have a reduction of hours during slow periods.
