The position of Spa Director is a salaried, exempt supervisory position and a member of the Resorts Leadership Committe. Under the direction of the General Manager, the Spa Director oversees and monitors all facets of the spa operation and is responsible for the staffing, scheduling, programming and management of massage, skin care, body and bath treatment, salon, locker rooms and retail sales.

Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Financial responsibility of all revenues, GOP and flow through
  • Accountable for all expenses related to the spa
  • Manages Capital purchases specific to spa as well as communicating needs to GM
  • Assess and develop payroll initiatives with HRD, including commission or fixed fee structure
  • Knowledgeable of all massage, salon and skin care law and licensure requirements
  • Develop policies and procedures for each department in the spa as well as for the spa operation as a whole.
  • Coordinates and assists in the development of job descriptions for each position.
  • Interviews, hires, trains, and evaluates all supervisors and key staff for each department of operations: massage, salon, skin care and spa support personnel including locker room attendants, receptionists and retail sales.
  • Stays updated and assists in coordinating and training the staff according to the latest developments pertinent to the function of each department.
  • Maintains a cooperative and professional work relationship with all auxiliary resort departments.
  • Oversees and maintains cleanliness and neatness of the facility.
  • Suggests and recommends salary and commissions structure.
  • Assists in developing and implementing budgets, monitors revenues and operating costs.
  • Assists with marketing and public relations to help create and present a marketable facility. Directs the promotion and maintenance of effective guest relations.
  • Works closely with the Massage and Skincare/Salon Coordinators to ensure proper coverage for therapists/practitioners to ensure guest satisfaction.
  • Manages Resort Suites system and recommends how to take better advantage of the various tools and reports it offers.
  • Manages Massage and Skincare, and Salon areas to maximize revenue through yielding of rooms.
  • Assures availability of services.
  • Encourages retail product sales through demos, outside vendors, and staff commission reports.
  • Develops and implements new service modalities with protocols, SOP’s and training.
  • Sets a standard of excellence in customer service within the Spa and maintains consistency of standards throughout.
  • Creates a synergistic, inspired, and cohesive team
  • Ability to develop future spa leaders


Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below represent the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.



  • Strong leadership and organizational skills necessary to manage various departments as well as total Spa operation.
  • Possess business and financial skills to develop and analyze budgets, management and financial reports, cost analysis, etc.
  • Must display appropriate social skills and congeniality necessary to make guests feel comfortable and welcome and serve as a role model for employees.
  • Ability to train, supervise, motivate, monitor and retain staff.

Education and Experience:

  • Five years as a Spa Director in a business generating revenue in excess of $3 million dollars
  • Ideally, has served on a Hotel/Resort Leadership Committee
  • Proven track record increasing sales and profitability. Elevating Guest Service. And improving colleague retention/engagement.
