Job Description

The Position

We advance science so that we all have more time with the people we love.

In the BioAnalytical Sciences (BAS) Department at Genentech, we are a world-class bioanalytical center of excellence for novel strategies, technologies, and methods that enable the development of life-changing medicines. We do this by fostering an innovative and collaborative environment that values and recognizes diversity of contributions.

We seek a highly motivated and talented Scientist to join the predictive sciences group. The candidate will contribute to the development of innovative cell-based assays using biochemical and cell biology techniques and cutting-edge technologies such as high content imaging. The candidate will be expected to independently design, execute and analyze experiments, and interact and communicate with other groups as part of a diverse multidisciplinary team. This is a hands-on laboratory position in a fast-paced environment, with participation in cross-department collaborations towards advancing Genentech’s drug discovery and development.

The Opportunity:

As an integral member of this dynamic team, you will be:

• Developing new and improving existing cell-based assays to support drug candidate selection for desirable properties.

• Designing, conducting and interpreting experiments to characterize cellular metabolism parameters and develop novel assays to predict clinical outcomes of large molecule therapeutics.

• Evaluating, investigating, and innovating with novel technologies in molecular biology and cell biology.

• As a Scientist 3, you are expected to work both independently and collaboratively at the bench and contribute to scientific discussions.

Who You Are:

• A Master of Science in Molecular Biology, Cell Biology, Immunology or a related discipline with a minimum of 6 years hands-on experience in cell culture and assay development.
• Strong experience and expertise in cell-based assay development, with proven expertise in cell culture, immunoassays and flow cytometry is required.

• Experience working with high content imaging systems, image processing and analysis are required.

• Previous experience with mass spectrometry, pharmacokinetics modeling, or biomolecular interaction techniques such as Octet or Biacore is a plus.

• Excellent communication, writing, and presentation skills with the ability to manage multiple projects in parallel and work with multidisciplinary teams.
