This job helps REI succeed by managing strategic, complex, and cross-functional work aligned with REI’s people strategy. It supports the co-op’s enterprise business goals. In this role, you help teams address critical people challenges, define projects, and design, test, implement, and monitor solutions to improve the employee experience. This involves using project management, critical thinking, design thinking, and stakeholder management skills. Projects must be completed on time, within scope, and within budget. The Project Manager, HR role ensures all project phases are completed. It involves communicating progress and performance to key stakeholders and resolving operational problems with the project team to minimize delays. General responsibilities include driving project timelines and deliverables while addressing issues and risks. It ensures alignment with the broader HR portfolio. Models and acts in accordance with REI’s guiding values and mission.
Responsibilities and Qualifications
- Initiates, plans, executes, monitors, controls, and closes cross-functional projects of varying timelines that support our people priorities.
- Acts as the main link between the project, HR COEs, HRBPs, and business teams to define, organize, and solve HR priority projects.
- Ensure project schedule aligns with key cross-functional tasks and overall HR integration. Deliver the schedule according to the desired business timeline.
- Manages the progress of the project and communicates the project status to management and stakeholders on a regular basis.
- Ensures continual alignment and between key cross-functional partners and stakeholders.
- Collaborates with cross-functional partners and leadership to ensure continued engagement and understanding of key deliverables.
- Provide project management documentation and reporting at project stages. Include project scope, charter, plan, resource plan, judgment logs, status reports, and lessons learned.
- Ensures project quality and success by managing action items. This includes handling risks, issues, governance, decision-making, meeting milestones, resource management, and budget planning.
- Liaise with cross-functional team members and groups to gather feedback that drive continuous improvement.
- Supports change management related to HR programs and initiatives and in collaboration with program change management team.
- Ensures REDI values are embedded into project deliverables.
- Demonstrates excellent time management skills and effectively prioritizes contending responsibilities with minimal oversight; ensures deliverables are completed timely.
- Develop and use a consistent repository of project management tools and resources. This helps build and scale project management practices across HR.
- Examine project outcomes and metrics to assess effectiveness and drive future enhancements.
- Participates in and drives ad-hoc projects and assignments as needed.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Business or HR
- 5+ years experience in Project Management
- 2+ years experience building and leading project teams
- Experience working with agile and structured project management methodologies and tools (i.e. Microsoft Office, Smartsheet)
- Exceptional project manager and collaborator with the ability to influence others on one’s team and across divisions to achieve business goals.
- Exceptional communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills and be able to work autonomously and collaboratively.
- Exceptional critical capability to understand complex issues and distill core concepts and convey concisely and clearly.
- Familiarity with the project scope, goals, and each team member’s role and function. Communicates and reinforces roles and responsibilities.
- Understands others’ preferred working styles and adapts to maximize positive outcomes. Exercises judgment in prioritization and risk management.
- Exceptional business acumen and ability to integrate HR and business strategies.
- Demonstrates effective listening and synthesizing of information to drive recommendations and decision making.
- Ability to manage conflicting priorities and make difficult tradeoffs to meet deadlines, especially in fast-paced ambiguous environments.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in the HR function and/or knowledge of core talent programs (i.e. performance management)

Pay Range
$85,400.00 – $136,700.00 per year
