Occasional lifting and pulling objects up to 25lbs, sitting for long periods of time, driving distances of 3-4 hours.

Job Summary
The UK PATHways program is specifically designed to provide integrated care to pregnant women who need support for substance use disorders. Our goal is to offer an effective, multidisciplinary team that focuses on each patient in a non-judgmental and non-stigmatizing environment.

Under the direction of the UK PATHways Program Director, the Peer Prevention Specialist will mentor perinatal women enrolled in prenatal clinics and receiving substance abuse treatment. The specialist should demonstrate an understanding of the experiences and feelings of their peers and share their own recovery stories to inspire hope, courage, and strength. This role requires travel to UK clinics and hospitals, as well as communication with patients via phone and multimedia. Clinical documentation is also necessary. Additionally, the Peer Prevention Specialist will be responsible for collecting and recording data for research projects and state-sponsored grants. Eligibility for certification as a Peer Support Specialist in Kentucky is required.



*Please note that this position is grant-funded, and continued employment is contingent upon the availability of grant funding. If the funding is reduced or terminated for any reason, the position may be discontinued.

EPIC, REDcap, MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
Does this position have supervisory responsibilities? No
Preferred Education/Experience
  • Prefer a minimum of 1 year experience leading psychoeducation groups that address substance use or mental health disorders
  • Prefer direct experience, either paid or unpaid, with navigating substance use disorders and the journey to recovery
  • Eligible to be certified as Peer Support Specialist in the state of Kentucky
  • CITI Human Subjects Protections Training
  • Responsible Conduct of Research
