Shift: Monday – Friday, 8:00AM – 4:30PM

The value you’ll bring to the team 

• The financial counselor responds to all patient inquires received via walk-in visit, including, but not limited to, the following activities:
  • Process payment
  • Add insurance information to Cerner and initiate claims process
  
  
• The financial counselor reviews census activity reports from prior day
  • Check self-pay patients in account history/notes for possible Medicaid or other insurance information and verify coverage if located. Also verify whether local translator is involved with patient
  • Check for availability of Cobra coverage
  • Check Medicare IP/Obs accounts for LTR & coinsurance days, as well as possible HMO coverage or Hospice involvement
  
  
• The financial counselor processes financial assistance applications received at the hospital and sends to CBO for final disposition
• The financial counselor will process upfront applications for extended pay program, including credit scoring and review of payment history on prior accounts with the program.
• The financial counselor will work registration CFUM for updates (*R) and assist with CCT updates
• The financial counselor enters newborn Medicaid information on the web portal.
• The financial counselor processes deposits for upfront collections & walk-in payments.
