Job Title: Registered Nurse
Department: Family Medicine Inpatient (3-N)
About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Registered Nurse to join our team at the University of New Mexico Hospitals. As a RN, you will be responsible for providing direct nursing care to assigned patients, working collaboratively with the healthcare team to implement individualized care plans, and promoting a positive work environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver safe and effective direct care to an assigned group of patients, incorporating age-specific considerations.
- Work within hospital, nursing division, and departmental policies to ensure compliance and excellence in patient care.
- Participate in orientation and assume precepting and evaluation responsibilities of new personnel upon successful completion of preceptor training.
- Assist with special tests and procedures, ensuring proper consent has been obtained.
- Maintain a safe, comfortable, and therapeutic environment for patients and families, adhering to hospital standards.
- Administer medication, including IV medication, via the Seven Rights, documenting and communicating clinical findings.
Requirements
- Education: Essential – Nationally Accredited Nursing Graduate; Nonessential – Bachelor’s Degree, Nursing.
- Experience: Essential – No minimum experience required; Nonessential – Bilingual English/Spanish.
- Credentials: Essential – CPR for Healthcare/BLS Prov or Prof Rescuers w/in 30 days, RN in NM or as allowed by reciprocal agreement by NM; Nonessential – Nationally Certified in area of specialty.
Working Conditions
The ideal candidate will possess strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment. This role requires heavy physical exertion, occasionally lifting objects up to 100 pounds and frequently lifting objects up to 50 pounds.
