CONVENTION CONFERENCE SECURITY SHIFT SUPERVISOR

JOB SUMMARY

  • The Security Supervisor will assist the Security Director with the administration duties of the Security Department and assist with the implementation of the department’s programs. The Security Supervisor will follow the directives as set forth in the policies and procedures manual to ensure the effective and efficient operation of all shifts.
  • The Security Supervisor acts as the primary contact between the shifts and the Security Director. In this capacity, the Security Supervisor implements the written and verbal directives of the Security Director.
  • The Security Supervisor will be responsible for shift function and personnel, lost and found property, reports, equipment and supplies necessary for the effective and efficient operation of the Security Department, and other tasks assigned by the Security Director.
  • The Security Supervisor will oversee the reasonable safeguarding of the Companies properties, team members, customers and other items of value on Company premises from harm or danger.
  • In the absence of the Security Director, the Security Supervisor will assume all duties of the security shift.


QUALIFICATIONS

The following qualifications will be required for the Security Supervisor:

  • High school graduate or equivalent is required
  • 1 to 3 years preferred prior supervision
  • 1 to 3 years preferred employment in a security related department or law enforcement, public service or military is preferred
  • Ability to manage several tasks at once
  • A thorough knowledge of accepted Gaming and Security procedures
  • Teaching and/or training background preferred
  • Must possess good oral and written communication skills along with a good working knowledge of basic computer programs
  • Must be able to obtain and possess a Nevada Gaming Card, an Alcohol Awareness Card (AES), and have a current and valid Nevada Driver’s License.

RESPONSIBILITIES



Security Supervisors are to assist in the managing of the various shifts and may also be assigned additional duties by superiors in the security chain of command i.e. the Security Director. A Security Supervisor is subject to the direction by the Security Director, shall be responsible for planning, directing, controlling, and coordinating all activities within their shift. The Security Supervisor is responsible for the entire security function on their respective shift and overall supervision of all Security Officers on said shift. To this end, the Security Supervisor will establish priorities, maintain follow-up to ensure adherence to schedules and work standards, report all security matters to the Security Director. The Security Supervisor will supervise, plan, and schedule security activities on a daily basis.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES / DUTIES


  • Every Security Supervisor has the responsibility of monitoring and constantly assessing the performance of subordinates and making appropriate suggestions (if needed) to bring the performance up to the required standard.
  • Security Supervisors are responsible for the proper development and maintenance of professional attitudes of their subordinates. When it comes to the attention of the Security Shift Supervisor that an officer is behaving or articulating any disgruntled, mutinous or anti-departmental words or actions, the Security Supervisor shall immediately step in and counsel the subordinate. To the extent possible, the Security Supervisor shall attempt to alter or modify the inappropriate behavior of the subordinate via counseling and discussion.
  • Security Supervisors shall monitor the Officers to ensure that subordinates do not loiter in the Security Office or any other area, such as the Podium. Each Security Supervisor has the responsibility to ensure that the Officers are at the designated locations throughout the property in accordance with the assigned posts given at the beginning of the shift.
  • The Security Supervisor has the responsibility to follow up on all notices brought to their attention regarding laxity in the performance of duty or violations of the rules and regulations.
  • After determining all of the facts, the Security Supervisor shall report finding with appropriate recommendations, in writing, to the Security Director.
  • Each Security Supervisor shall set a good example to all of the subordinates and their conduct will be above reproach both on and off duty. They will conduct themselves in a professional manner when in a social setting.
  • Security Supervisors shall avoid, as much as possible under the circumstances, censuring, disciplining or rebuking in any way a subordinate in the presence of others.
  • Security Supervisors, and/or designee, will assign / schedule the Duty Posts to the Officers ensuring proper staffing levels, and also ensure the Officers are on post and in compliance with directives of the P&P Manual.
  • Each Security Supervisor shall respond personally to all major crimes and all unusual incidents on the property. Unless the Security Supervisor is occupied with another incident of equal or more severity, they shall respond forthwith to major incidents.
  • Security Supervisors will determine if and when the Police are to be called to the property in response to any situation.
  • Security Supervisors shall review every report produced on their shift and ensure it is in compliance with the training and directives of the P&P Manual.
  • Security Supervisors will ensure all radio traffic is in accordance with proper radio rules, regulations and protocol. Any deviation from these standards shall be acted upon as soon as possible and the offending Officer will be counseled and/or disciplined.
  • Security Supervisors shall ensure NO reports of any nature are released to members of the general public without prior permission of the VP of Corporate Security.
  • Security Supervisors shall ensure the Security Director is contacted in the event any major incident has occurred on the property (homicide, fire, theft, robbery, serious injury, death, bomb threat, shooting, and all other incidents of a serious nature).
  • Each Security Supervisor will be responsible for tracking, managing and coordinating the department’s (shift’s) training needs.
  • Security Supervisors are to maintain the integrity and inventory of all equipment essential to the operation of the Security Department, such as, but not limited to: keys, radios, badges, flashlights, cameras, first aid kits, computers, etc.
  • Each Security Supervisor is to oversee safety rules and regulations and CRISIS MANAGEMENT procedures to include the Fire Command Center.
  • Security Supervisors assure compliance with the Gaming Control Board, company rules, regulations, and have knowledge of applicable laws.
  • Each Security Supervisor is to ensure development of professional relationships with local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies, and with other departments and their Directors, Managers, and Supervisors.

PHYSICAL, MENTAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS


  • Must be able to work and stand inside and outside, sometimes in heat in excess of 115 degrees, or cold as low as 10 degrees.
  • Must be able to physically restrain adults who weight more than 200 pounds.
  • Must be able to respond calmly in crisis and stressful situations and be able to make rational decisions when handling guest and employee issues.
  • Must be able to work independently.
  • Must be able to stoop, bend, jump, twist, crouch, grip, carry heavy loads and maneuver quickly on level surfaces, as well as, up and down stairs.
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 60 pounds. Must be able to push or pull up to 150 pounds.
  • Must be able to see and, also, remember the specific details of incidents and persons. Must be able to give court testimony when necessary and write detailed reports. The Security Supervisor responds to visual and aural cues, and must be able to read, write, speak and understand English.
  • Must be able to tolerate areas containing secondhand smoke, high noise levels, bright lights and dust.
  • Must pass the physical and written testing of the Las Vegas Region Security Academy (C.O.D.E.S., Defensive Tactics, Legal Issues, Handcuffing, Verbal De-Escalation Skills, Use of Force, Report Writing, Searching Subjects, Emergency Response, Ethics, and Expandable Baton, Red Cross AED/CPR/Emergency First Aid) within the first ninety days of employment.
