Maintenance Centralized Services (MCS) is seeking an experienced Estimates Manager to lead and oversee complex repair estimations for our middle mile fleet operations. This leadership role is responsible for managing a team of estimators, developing estimation strategies, and making critical decisions on low and high-value repairs for Class 8 trucks, trailers, and specialized equipment that connects Amazon’s Middle Mile network across North America. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in handling repairs exceeding $30,000 and possess the skills to optimize repair costs, minimize vehicle downtime, and ensure compliance with DOT regulations and Amazon’s safety standards. This position plays a crucial role in maintaining the operational excellence and cost-effectiveness of Amazon’s transportation network.

Key job responsibilities
The Estimates Manager will lead and develop a team of estimators specializing in complex repairs which can exceed $30,000 for heavy-duty trucks and trailers, while developing and implementing estimation strategies to optimize repair costs and minimize vehicle downtime. This role will oversee catastrophic damage assessments and make final repair vs. replace decisions, managing relationships with third-party vendors, OEM dealers, and other providers. The manager will establish and maintain KPIs for the estimation team, ensuring high-quality, timely estimates, while driving continuous improvement in estimation processes and tools. Collaboration with fleet operations, finance, and procurement teams to align on repair strategies is essential, as is providing regular reporting and insights to senior leadership on high-value repair trends and cost analysis. The role requires ensuring compliance with DOT regulations and Amazon’s safety standards throughout all estimation and repair processes.



A day in the life
The day is dynamic and multifaceted. You might start your morning reviewing overnight repair requests and prioritizing high-value estimates. Throughout the day, you’ll lead your team of estimators, providing guidance on complex repairs and making critical decisions on repair versus replace scenarios for damaged vehicles. You’ll likely spend time analyzing data to identify cost-saving opportunities and fleet performance trends. Meetings with stakeholders from operations, finance, and procurement teams will occupy part of your schedule, where you’ll discuss repair strategies and budget alignments. You will find yourself negotiating with vendors on repair costs or reviewing catastrophic damage assessments. Your day might conclude with preparing reports for senior leadership on repair trends and cost analyses, always with an eye on maintaining the delicate balance between minimizing downtime and optimizing repair costs for Amazon’s vast middle mile fleet.

Maintenance Centralized Services (MCS) at Amazon is a specialized organization that serves as the central hub for fleet maintenance operations across the company’s vast transportation network. MCS is responsible for developing and implementing standardized maintenance strategies, managing repair estimates and approvals, coordinating with internal and external repair facilities, overseeing warranty claims, and reducing maintenance costs. The team provides critical technical support, conducts data analysis to optimize fleet performance, and ensures consistent maintenance practices across all regions. By centralizing these functions, MCS plays a crucial role in maximizing vehicle uptime, monitoring costs, and maintaining the reliability of Amazon’s extensive fleet, which is essential for the company’s logistics and delivery operations.



BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

– 3+ years of negotiations/cost savings, supplier excellence, and risk mitigation experience
– 3+ years of working cross functionally with tech and non-tech teams experience
– 3+ years of defining and implementing process improvement initiatives using data and metrics experience
– 2+ years of supply chain experience
– Knowledge of Excel (Pivot Tables, VLookUps) at an advanced level and SQL
– Experience defining program requirements and using data and metrics to determine improvements
– Experience being responsible/leading large and complex negotiations


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

– 5+ years of driving end to end delivery, and communicating results to senior leadership experience
– 5+ years of driving process improvements experience
– Experience in stakeholder management, dealing with multiple stakeholders at varied levels of the organization
– Experience building processes, project management, and schedules
– Bachelor’s degree
